This is a picture of my brother Kenny and I bungee jumping off the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia in 1985 I designed and built all the equipment to make these jumps possible.
This was a 350' bungee cord and stretched about 700'. I've made over 100 bungee jumps of more than 300 ft. I'm the only person to make a completely indoors jump of 300 ft. this was done in 1985 in the Hyatt Hotel's 30 story atrium in Houston Texas. My close friend, Sonia and I made the first tandem jump in the world off a 650 ft. tower crane in down town Dallas TX. in 1985. I really enjoy this sport and would love to do more of it.
I have made about 100 bungee cord jumps that are very high, and all were in different conditions. Each jump was a master-mind of planning, calculations, and equipment construction that my life depended on. this lifestyle provoked me to a strong research, and training for success. I do not live by accident I put much time into understanding to make these events possible.
These is where I bungee jump when I get bored. I'll tell you a story about this bridge. One day some friends named, Cliff and Shan, wanted to see me bungee jump in 1990. At that time there was no public bungee cording establishments. So I remembered this bridge from times that I passed it on the freeway, so I said that if it's possible I will try to jump it. The next morning the three of us packed up the equipment and headed to this bridge. After arriving we measured the height, I calculated the cord length, then we measured and marked the cord. We then walked out on the bridge to the highest point. I wrapped the cord around the guard rail 3 times cushioned by a piece of leather. While Shan held the other end of the cord from slipping, I jumped off. The cord stopped my fall at 3 feet above this ditch. After I quit bouncing Cliff through down the rope so I could repel down. This whole jump took less than one hour to plan, calculate, execute, pack up, and leave. This was quit impressive, everything went according to plan. Since then I've made close to 100 night jumps from this bridge, although I don't really count these under 300 feet, theirs just not much to them.
